Key Responsibilities:

As a Data Governance Lead, your key responsibilities will include: 

• Establishing comprehensive data governance policies, standards, and procedures that align with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and modern data architectures.
• Ensuring data quality and integrity by maintaining data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across various systems and platforms, leveraging advanced data management technologies.
• Implementing robust data management measures and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations such as GDPR and New Zealand's Privacy Act, as well as internal policies, while considering the unique challenges posed by AI integration.
• Governing AI data usage and AI models to ensure ethical standards, transparency, and accountability in their deployment and ongoing monitoring.
• Collaborating closely with data engineering, data analytics, AI specialists, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration, governance, and effective utilization of data across the organization, supporting both traditional and innovative data-driven initiatives.
• Managing metadata effectively to standardize definitions, improve data traceability, and enhance discoverability, thereby facilitating better data understanding and utilization across various departments.

What You’ll Bring:

• Proven experience in data governance, data management, or related roles, with a strong emphasis on modern cloud data architectures, streaming platforms, and AI governance.
• In-depth knowledge of New Zealand's data privacy regulations, including the Privacy Act 2020, and experience ensuring compliance with these regulations.
• Strong communication skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams and drive data governance initiatives within the organization.
• A proactive and strategic mindset to identify opportunities for improving data governance and driving innovation in data management.
• Relevant certifications such as DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP) are a plus.
