Role Overview 

As our new Team Leader – Lump Sum Claims, you’ll lead a high-performing team of Claims professionals, guiding them to deliver exceptional service and empathetic support to our customers and advisers. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our claims promise is upheld and in line with our Good Customer Principles and regulatory obligations.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities  

Leadership & Development 

  • Inspire, coach, and empower your team to reach their full potential 

  • Drive performance to meet strategic goals and service level agreements 

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement 

Claims Management 

  • Oversee the assessment and management of Lump Sum claims 

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and empathetic communication with customers and advisers 

  • Manage team workflows and priorities, especially during periods of leave or high volume 

Operational Excellence 

  • Align processes with our claims strategy and customer experience goals 

  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery 

  • Authorise assessments within delegated authority levels 

Desired Skills and Experience

What We’re Looking For   

  • NCEA Level 3 or equivalent (required) 

  •  Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, or Insurance preferred 

  • 2+ years in the insurance industry, ideally within a claims environment 

  • Experience working with third-party providers such as lawyers, medical experts, and regulators 

  • Leadership or coaching training is a plus 

  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
