Role Overview: 

The Cloud & Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing both legacy on-premises infrastructure and modern cloud platforms (primarily Azure), ensuring seamless interoperability and operational continuity. In this 6-month fixed term role you will bridge traditional infrastructure with cloud-native services, applying DevOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices, and collaborating across teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Operate and support both legacy and cloud platforms (Azure, Confluent Cloud, VMware, etc.) 

  • Lead or contribute to cloud migration efforts 

  • Apply IaC and DevOps practices to automate deployments 

  • Triage and resolve incidents, monitor system health and security posture 

  • Maintain documentation for operational processes and compliance 

  • Collaborate with developers, security, and application teams 

  • Fulfil service requests within agreed SLAs 

  • Triage and resolve incidents across hybrid environments, escalating as needed 

  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to restore services and meet SLAs 

  • Coordinate ticket routing and resolution across multiple teams and providers 

  • Monitor system health, security posture (e.g., Defender and Tenable scores), and backups 

  • Ensure audit readiness and compliance through thorough documentation 

  • Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation for hybrid systems 

  • Support internal audits and ensure legacy systems meet compliance standards 

  • Work cross-functionally with developers, security, and application teams 

  • Mentor others in hybrid system operations 

  • Identify opportunities to modernise legacy systems or enhance cloud operations 

  • Deliver provisioning and other service requests within agreed SLAs 

Desired Skills and Experience

What We’re Looking For: 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field 

  • ITIL certification 

  • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Administrator Associate, Solutions Architect Expert) 

  • Additional certifications in networking or security are a plus 

Experience: 

  • 3+ years supporting hybrid infrastructure in enterprise environments 

  • Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and physical networking 

Skills:  

  • Proficiency in Azure, DevOps pipelines, and infrastructure automation 

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across diverse environments 

  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
