Role Overview:

 The Insurance Platforms Technical Lead is the primary technical authority across Fidelity Life’s insurance platform ecosystem. The role provides technical leadership and oversight, and engineering expertise across multiple squads and technologies, ensuring consistent high-quality delivery aligned with enterprise direction.

The Technical Lead is an expert in the Microsoft cloud stack, with strong capability across Azure integration services, cloud architecture principles, DevOps practices, and solution engineering. The role requires working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365, sufficient to guide teams, provide technical oversight, and ensure best-practice implementation across the insurance platform ecosystem.

The role acts as a coach, mentor, and technical escalation point, and team leadership enabling teams to deliver robust, secure, performant, and maintainable solutions spanning Microsoft and non-Microsoft technologies.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

  • Provide technical direction and thought leadership across all insurance platforms and delivery squads
  • Lead engineering governance, including coding standards, integration patterns, and technical solution design best practices
  • Conduct design reviews and provide technical oversight
  • Lead technical troubleshooting and incident resolution, acting as the primary escalation point for production issues
  • Promote quality engineering and continuous improvement practices
  • Contribute hands-on to design and implementation where complexity or risk warrants direct involvement

Platform & Engineering Governance:

  • Own and maintain platform engineering standards
  • Ensure alignment to enterprise architecture and security frameworks
  • Oversee integration design and delivery spanning Azure and non-Microsoft systems
  • Ensure non-functional requirements are consistently met
  • Work with vendors and partners to ensure delivery quality and technical standards are upheld

Team Leadership:

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and development for developers and SREs
  • Foster a high-performing engineering culture
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical impediments affecting team delivery
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of technical team members

Agile Delivery, Teamwork and Collaboration:

  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, leading technical discussions, demonstrations and outcomes while supporting the ceremony facilitator
  • Lead technical input into backlog refinement, ensuring stories are well-defined, estimated, and technically sound before sprint commitment
  • Engage across squads and with architecture, security, and platform teams to ensure cohesive and aligned technical delivery
  • Collaborate with Product & Business Owners to ensure technical clarity
