Job Description
Role Overview:
The New Business Specialist plays a critical role in delivering on our commitment to protect New Zealanders. This role is responsible for ensuring a smooth and positive on‑boarding experience for both our customers and our advisers, delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality processing we ensure that applications are progressed efficiently and issued in line with business rules, and regulatory requirements.
This role works closely with advisers, underwriting, and internal teams to manage the end-to-end process whilst proactively identifying opportunities to minimise delays and ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end processing of new business applications, including initiation, requirement management, and issuing of policies in line with underwriting decisions and business rules.
Proactively identify, communicate, and follow up on outstanding requirements to ensure applications progress efficiently and are completed within agreed timeframes.
Maintain a high standard of accuracy and quality across all tasks by adhering to established processes, guidelines, checklists, and quality assurance frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations.
Provide responsive, accurate, and professional support to advisers via phone, email, and chat, removing roadblocks and enabling a smooth, efficient experience.
Collaborate effectively with underwriting, Key Account Managers, and internal teams to resolve queries, share information, and deliver strong customer and adviser outcomes.
Contribute to a positive, high-performing team environment that values respect, curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement, while celebrating team successes.
Desired Skills and Experience
What We’re Looking For:
Experience:
1+ years’ experience in a corporate environment desired but not required
Demonstrated ability to develop core workplace skills such as organisation, accountability, and attention to detail through employment, study, or other structured activities.
Experience working with computers and digital systems, including accurately entering, managing, or reviewing information.
Exposure to following processes, instructions, or structured guidelines in any setting
Skills:
Strong computer literacy with the ability to quickly learn and confidently navigate new systems and tools.
Fast learner with the ability to pick up new concepts, processes, and technical information quickly and apply them accurately.
Highly organised with the ability to self-manage workload, prioritise tasks effectively, and maintain accountability for daily outputs.
Excellent attention to detail, with a strong focus on quality assurance and the ability to follow strict guidelines, processes, and checklists.
Clear and confident communication skills, particularly spoken English, with the ability to accurately interpret questions and provide complete, relevant responses.
Problem-solving mindset, including knowing when to escalate or seek support to ensure accuracy and avoid errors.
Strong sense of ownership and responsibility for delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality work.
Collaborative team player who contributes positively to team outcomes while still being able to work independently.
