The Opportunity

We are on the lookout for a Software Developer to join our team on a permanent fulltime basis, based in our Auckland office with flexible working options available. This is an entry level- to intermediate opportunity allowing you to develop while you contribute meaningfully to our projects and gain insight within a leading NZ life insurance business.

Reporting to the Development Practice Lead, the Software Developer will take ownership of designing and developing and maintaining solutions. This role provides a competitive advantage in the Insurance and Technology space by creating digital ecosystems which assist us in meeting our strategic and tactical objectives and reducing time to market on initiatives.

This is a permanent fulltime role, based in our Auckland office with flexible working options available.

Job Description

Day to day tasks include:

Software Development

  • Creating high quality modular sustainable automation solutions
  • Writing well-structured, tested and documented code which meet requirement specifications.
  • Learning and utilising modern development practices in creating testable, scalable and reusable libraries of code
  • Creating and maintaining solution documentation
  • Performing root cause analysis and resolve problems

Systems Analysis and Design

  • Collaborating with Tech Leads, Architects and External Consultants to design solutions which aligns to Fidelity Life’s digital ecosystem
  • Collaborating in cross-functional teams to develop user stories, use cases or requirements specifications.
  • Assisting with designing solutions to fit objectives and requirements, and creating appropriate technical artefacts to be used at various points of the SDLC
  • Contributing to design spikes in a timeboxed and collaborative manner.
  • Creating modular solutions to allow to loosely couple systems with minimal functional smear.
  • Implementing automation to relieve operational pressures.
  • Creating, maintaining and monitoring, refactoring correctly formed robot modules and functions.
  • Proactively providing recommendations for improvements to existing methodologies, infrastructure, architecture, processes and applications.

Devops

  • Supporting, implementing, executing and of DevOps practice
  • Understanding CI/CD pipelines to allow frequent delivery of well- formed and tested testable code across various stages of the SDLC
  • In collaboration with Infrastructure, create scripted infrastructure to provision environments for deploying applications

You might bring some of these skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer sciences
  • Cloud Platform (Azure)
  • Understanding of SDLC and Agile ways of working
  • Knowledge of Software Development best practices (OOD, unit testing, CI/CD)
  • Skills in JavaScript Framework (React)
  • Skills in.NET Framework
  • UiPath
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, PowerApps, Microsoft Flow)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365
